Hands: Growing up to be an Artist by Lois Ehlert

I got a fantastic find at the Salvation Army today, Hands: Growing up to be an Artist by Lois Ehlert.  I love to thrift!  I have used Lois Ehlerts books as an author study in writing and as an artist showcase in art, students love to hear about why she prefers construction over drawing.  (She is able to move her shapes to the desired position without all the eraser smudges and tears, something most first graders can relate to).  In this book, which I had never heard of before today, she talks about how she became an artist with the encouragement of her parents.  It will go very nicely in my classroom library along with my other Lois Ehlert books.  And it was only fifty cents!!
